Since 2020, Mojan has composed original scores for various award-winning feature and short films, including Over een Pastoor op Regenlaarzen, The Gift, and Filho (spotlighted by The New Yorker). Her score for The Gift was nominated for Best Music for Short Film at the Music in Motion Awards 2026, and her work spans fiction, documentary, experimental cinema, commercials, and dance.
Her concert music has been performed and at major festivals such as Grachtenfestival, Gaudeamus, CAMPGround, etc. Her film scores have accompanied premieres at leading events including the Nederlands Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Student Academy Awards (Oscars), or the Leeds International Film Festival (UK).
Notably, in Grachtenfestival 2023, she curated the evocative program "Migration of Violets," featuring world premieres of her compositions alongside works by other Iranian female composers.
Mojan Alaiyeh (b. 1994, Iran) is an Amsterdam-based composer and musician whose work bridges the poetic and the cinematic, weaving together contemporary and traditional influences into emotionally charged sound worlds. Her repertoire spans a diverse range of styles, transitioning from acoustic to electronic elements, while bearing the distinct influence of her Iranian musical roots.
A graduate of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Master’s in Composing for Film and Media), Mojan also teaches film music in the Young Talent department of CvA, and serves as a jury member for the Keep an Eye Film Score Award, where she previously received a special mention.
Currently, she is developing a ballet chanté to be completed in 2026–2027. In March 2026, she premiered her first monodrama, a short opera for soprano Jamie Jordan, in the United States.
